Keeping with our tradition of a date in Brighton after our midterms, Emily and I had great fun venturing into town to go to a famously reputed tea shop, The Blackbird.
On our way, we took a most delightful detour to the poppy fields right next to our campus! With dresses on and camera ready, this beautiful field was just begging for a photo shoot :)
It has always been a secret dream of mine to frolic in a field of flowers, and today that dream came true!
Thank you Lord for blessing us with your beautiful creation today!! What a treat to enjoy God's marvelous creation with my beautiful friend!
Isn't she lovely? :)
Luke 12: 26-28 came to mind. It was so appropriate that we were here right after a midterm, when rather than stressing about all of the little details and school, Emily and I decided to begin our Sabbath rest in the Lord.
"Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!"
These beautiful flowers were such a blessed reminder of how much our Lord loves us and how much he cares for us <3
Emily and I enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea at The Blackbird, splitting smoked salmon sandwiches, scones, earl grey lavender tea and an assortment of desserts, including a famous slice of The Blackbird's banana passion cake (imagine a hybrid of banana bread and carrot cake). The tea room itself was positively delightful and so cute and quaint! It has retained it's old-world British charm for all these years
We explored Brighton a bit and found "The Pie Society," a two-story pie shop in Brighton. I've been itching to try the famous British steak and kidney pie and this was the perfect opportunity! I picked one up for dinner the next day.
*blogger's note, despite the anticipation, I have discovered that I am not quite the biggest fan of kidney...haha. I wasn't sure what to expect and can't tell if I was surprised or not to find actual pieces of kidney in my pie...! Imagine in your head what kidney might be like, and that's pretty much how it tastes ;p
Would I try it again? Probably not. Am I glad I did? Most definitely!
God has blessed Emily and I so much through our friendship and I loved spending the day with her :) I have learned so much from her joyful spirit and loving nature and cherish every one of our conversations! There is truly no better way to end a week than great conversation and moments over tea with the sweetest of friends :)
aw you are so sweet! I am so thankful to have met you <3
